Master of Arts in English, Rhetoric and Composition
The Master of Arts in English, Rhetoric and Composition program focuses on how language is used in real-world contexts. This degree is ideal preparation for teaching college-level writing, for continuing to a Ph.D. program in rhetoric and composition, and for working in other public and professional situations, which call for effective written and verbal communication.
Courses examine the history and theory of rhetoric and literacy, the theory and practice of teaching college writing, proposal writing and persuasive writing, gender issues in rhetoric and writing, and technology in writing.
