Literary Arts Partnership at UCF

Spring 2008:

Ivey Lane Elementary School. Orange County. Students are leading creative writing workshops in fourth grade classrooms. We also opened, this semester, the "Writing is Power Center" where ILES students can work with UCF students one-on-one with their writing and reading.

University High School. Orange County. UCF students and UHS students have a blog where poetry is all the rage, called the Poetry Pal Project.UCF students have joined the efforts of UHS's Reading and Writing Center, mentoring high school students in creative and expository writing.

Other Public Schools where we're providing classroom assistance, poetry mentorship, essay writing tutoring, and more:

Melbourne High School. Brevard County.

Fairglen Elementary School. Brevard County.

Corner Lake Middle School. Orange County.

Union Park PreSchool. Orange County.

Osteen Elementary. Volusia County.

Odyssey Middle School. Orange County.

Ventura Elementary. Osceola County.

Life Care Center. Assisted Living Facility. UCF Students work on communication skills with residents and read poetry and stories to them.

Coalition for the Homeless. Various projects.

Women's Residential and Counseling Center. UCF Students offer the adults creative writing classes and childcare for the children.

Joe Lee Smith Center in Cocoa. Creative Writing classes for after school.

Community Service Center at Margaret Square. Creative Writing classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Girls and Boys Town. UCF students offer individual mentoring/tutoring as well as a regular creative writing class each Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Spring of Tampa Bay. UCF poetry student leads poetry workshops and holds readings for the women. The student is also conducting a poetry book drive so that the women will have poetry to read.
