Every spring semester, the department hosts the English Symposium, an in-house conference for graduate students. The conference is organized and run by the students in the LCT Capstone course given in the Fall semester prior to the event. The symposium offers an opportunity to present ideas in a professional setting to LCT graduate students, as well as Technical Communication graduate students, MFA students in Creative Writing, graduate students in Rhetoric and Composition, as well as a limited number of undergraduate students (mostly from the Honors Undergraduate Thesis program).
Each symposium has a broad theme and organizes papers into panels in support of the theme. A Call for Papers will be announced each fall. Programs for past symposia can be found here.
